My PC Won’t Turn On

Problem Description: -

The computer does not power on when the power button is pressed

What You Might See

  • Nothing lights up when you press the power button
  • No fan or hard drive noise
  • Screen stays blank
  • Keyboard or mouse does not respond
  • You may hear beeping sounds (these are codes that show hardware problems)

Common Reasons

  • The power cable is not plugged in properly.
  • The wall socket or power strip is not working.
  • The laptop battery is dead or not connected.
  • The laptop’s internal power supply or other hardware has a problem.

Steps to Fix Your PC

Step 1Check the Power

  1. Make sure your laptop charger is firmly plugged into the wall.
  2. If you're using a power strip, check that the power strip is switched ON.
  3. Check the charger: see if the charger light is ON (if the charger has one)

Step 2: Do a Power Reset

If checking the plug didn't work, try draining any residual electrical charge remaining in the system.

  1. Unplug the charger.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  3. Plug the charger back in (if you have a removable battery, leave the battery out for this step).
  4. Try turning on the laptop again.

Step 3: Verify Charger Light Status

  1. Check if the charger light is on 💡. If it is off, the charger itself may be faulty

Step 4: Check All Connections 🔗

  1. Make sure the monitor 🖥️, keyboard ️, and mouse 🖱️ are connected properly.
  2. For desktops, check the switch on the back of the power supply make sure it is ON 🔘.

Step 5: Disconnect All External Devices 📴

  1. Disconnect all USB drives, printers, or other external devices.
  2. Try turning on the laptop with only the power cable connected.

Step 6: Ask for Help 🙋🙋

  1. If the PC still does not turn on there might be motherboard or other internal parts issue 🛠️.
  2. Raise a ticket.
  3. If possible, submit the ticket from your mobile device for quick action 📱.
