My PC Won’t Turn On
Problem Description: -
The computer does not power on when the power button is pressed
What You Might See
- Nothing lights up when you press the power button
- No fan or hard drive noise
- Screen stays blank
- Keyboard or mouse does not respond
- You may hear beeping sounds (these are codes that show hardware problems)
Common Reasons
- The power cable is not plugged in properly.
- The wall socket or power strip is not working.
- The laptop battery is dead or not connected.
- The laptop’s internal power supply or other hardware has a problem.
Steps to Fix Your PC
Step 1: Check the Power ⚡
- Make sure your laptop charger is firmly plugged into the wall.
- If you're using a power strip, check that the power strip is switched ON.
- Check the charger: see if the charger light is ON (if the charger has one)
Step 2: Do a Power Reset
If checking the plug didn't work, try draining any residual electrical charge remaining in the system.
- Unplug the charger.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Plug the charger back in (if you have a removable battery, leave the battery out for this step).
- Try turning on the laptop again.
Step 3: Verify Charger Light Status
- Check if the charger light is on 💡. If it is off, the charger itself may be faulty
Step 4: Check All Connections 🔗
- Make sure the monitor 🖥️, keyboard ⌨️, and mouse 🖱️ are connected properly.
- For desktops, check the switch on the back of the power supply make sure it is ON 🔘.
Step 5: Disconnect All External Devices 📴
- Disconnect all USB drives, printers, or other external devices.
- Try turning on the laptop with only the power cable connected.

- If the PC still does not turn on there might be motherboard or other internal parts issue 🛠️.
